Rabbit Rabbit

How in the world is it December already? I hardly remember November beginning! And now it's all done, gone, and over.

I still have yet to mail in my YMA letter. I realized I'd rather not write an official letter, but send in the official thing and write them an email. Still not 100% positive what all I'm going to say, but I guess that's not exactly super necessary at this point.

So I just found out (thank you facebook status updates for allowing me to be a stalker and know-it-all of random facts) that Belhaven is no longer Belhaven College but Belhaven University. Which is a weird thought. It's also weird to think about because I could have still been there now. What would that be like? Who would I still know? Who wouldn't I know? Would I have the same ideas that I have now? The same motivation? Would I still have the same major? Would I be content with Mississippi? Would I live on campus? Would I have tried to get more involved on campus or in the biology department? weird... But still, today, I'm all decked out in OSU gear. Sweatshirt and hat. Not much, you might say, but other than my Belhaven sweatshirt, I really didn't have any Belhaven gear myself. But at the same time, I would know seniors. I would be with my classmates. But would I want that? I feel like the entire time I was at Belhaven I tried to make myself an outsider more than I already was because I was from Oregon. I'm sure I was really annoying to some people with all my negativity and mentioning of Oregon and the west coast all the time.

The thought of potentially visiting there for spring break is weird for me. Especially after having built up all that negativity about the college, and the attitude I left with. But also because of the way I've changed over the last year and half/two years...but have I really changed? How have I changed? Would other people notice? Who would I visit? Who would I stay with? What would I do while people are in class or at work? Susanna, Kyra, and Hannah Johnson for sure. I miss them so much. There are others too... would/should I say hi to Dr. C, Hube, and Foncree when I'm there too? idk...

It would probably cost at least $500 for the flight alone, plus additional travel expenses including food, various activities, and other things.

Also? No one cares. Shut freakin' up in class. There's this one dude who makes up all these weird analogies and theories and cases in my AgLaw class, and it's super annoying. His endless stream of questions is obnoxious. Everyone gets frustrated with his questions and ideas. Mostly because he's always talking in class. Always. SHUT. UP.

Side note: I'm really glad they got that guy who just up and shot and killed four cops in a coffee shop in the Seattle area. And by got, I mean killed. He totally got what he deserved. I mean, I used to think that cops were these "higher beings" of sorts, probably related to the fact that they enforce laws and rules and call you on it when you break or bend the rules, but no, they're just normal people working a job that they were at least slightly interested in, and took on the stress and responsibility of everything that goes along with it. Normal people with normal lives outside of their jobs. Families and friends. Just because they wear their uniforms with the badge and duty belt does not make them a separate form of people. Up and shooting four of them while they are just trying to do some basic paperwork over a cup of coffee... I can't even imagine. Murdering any normal civilian while they are at work is horrible enough as it is, but murdering people who are responsible and necessary to keep other people safe while they are at work is even worse imo. Perhaps I have a slight bias in this area, but regardless, my point still holds.

Another weird thing? This is the last week of winter term. I'm kinda weirded out by this fact. Also because I still regularly forget that I'm a senior. Weird.

Also? I think I said before that I had decided not to pursue walking at commencement, however, I feel like regardless of the fact that I will be graduating in another year from my masters program, I kinda feel like maybe I should walk. It's a fun thing, it's kinda a big deal, and why the heck not? I'll probably still be in town anyway.
