computer emergency...!

I just spent the last 22 minutes and 8 seconds talking on the phone with a possibly Indian guy talking about my Mac.

The "internal optical drive" is malfunctioning. Ha. I told him so much he was kinda surprised I knew so much about computers. Heh... It's nice not being just another "user" and knowing more about computers and what potential problems actually are.

I knew months ago that I'd probably have to take it in to get the disc drive repaired or replaced. And yes. I do. After pulling out the battery and messing around with various key combinations and inserting multiple kinds of discs into the drive and seeing how they work and how the computer responds, as per instruction from Possibly Indian, I have to take it in or mail it in for repair.

Possibly Indian wanted to set me up with a Genius appointment in Tigard/Portland tomorrow... yeah, because I can just do that. I mean, I suppose if it was a (haha) Computer Emergency (watch first episode of Chuck... skateboarder watching the Nerd Herder reverse down stairs for that quote --> or just click here) I'd drive it up there ASAP, but it's not really... I just need to get it fixed soon, mostly because it's frustrating not knowing if I'll actually be able to burn a disc or not because many times - 9 times out of 10, it won't even read the blank disc, much less actually burn without failure or error.

I'd rather not mail it in, because that means I'd have to be *gasp* WITHOUT!!!!!!!!!!! my computer for several days, and quite possibly a week or more. I mean, not that I don't have another computer. I have my PC. But I like my macbook. And I take notes with it in class. And I have all of my current documents on it that are necessary for classes this term... not to mention stuff for other terms and other various random documents.... music, movies, shows, pictures, videos, and games.
